BIO-202: Topic 7: Male and Female Reproductive Physiology / BIO-202: Human Anatomy and Physiology II

This topic will introduce and discuss the purpose of structures that make up the male and female reproductive systems. Hormones of men and women will be introduced to illustrate reproductive function. The ovarian and uterine cycles are covered in depth to relate back to the hormonal control of female reproductive function.

Objectives:

  1. Summarize the basic steps associated with gamete production.
  2. Describe the structures and functions of the male reproductive system.
  3. Describe the production and composition of semen.
  4. Describe the hormonal regulation of male reproductive function.
  5. Identify the phases in the ovarian and uterine cycles and their hormonal control.
  6. Describe the structures and functions of the female reproductive system.
  7. Describe the process of fertilization.
  8. Explain male and female sexual function.
  9. Describe the stages of gestation.
